HOPE IS THE FIRST STEP...

.........................................................................................................

There is the hope that you will experience the independence you knew before your spinal cord injury.  The hope that you will get yourself out of bed each morning instead of waiting for a caregiver to arrive.  The hope that you will get yourself into bed at night without assistance.  The hope that you will bathe yourself, dress yourself, feed yourself, drive a vehicle, go to school, go to work and earn a living.  There is the hope that you will begin living your life again.

All of this is now within reach thanks to Donna Marini and the efforts of the dedicated staff at CCS-Orlando.  CCS-Orlando is boot camp for people with spinal cord injuries and other mobility impairments -- a community-based transitional living facility offering a host of rehabilitative services, including advanced ADL Training (Activities Of Daily Living), so people can achieve a more independent quality of life and pursue their dreams on their terms.

Donna Marini and CCS-Orlando have created a new exit strategy for people with spinal cord injuries after hospital discharge.  This is the good news.  The bad news is that funding to pay for these services is almost non-existent in our healthcare system - thus the reason more facilities like CCS-Orlando simply don't exist.  Most insurance policies will not pay for transitional living services.  In addition, a great many people who suffer spinal cord injuries are young and uninsured.  Learn about the Donna Marini Foundation and how she is working to ensure that not a single person in need will ever be turned away from CCS-Orlando due to the limitations of insurance or their inability to pay for services.
